Karin, a precocious teenager, is abandoned by her father in the Japanese countryside. Living in a temple with her grandfather, she meets Anzu, a giant and notoriously lazy “ghost cat” who is tasked with caring for her. Suspicious of her new guardian, Karin sabotages Anzu’s odd jobs for the townspeople and befriends the eccentric spirits of the local forest. In an effort to win Karin’s favor, Anzu accidentally makes a pact with the devil, and all hell breaks loose.
