He’s lovable. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer, who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. During season 8, Angel Batista was not always played by David Zayas.

His son David Zayas Jr

stands in for his father in some shots, as the two look so much alike. Visible throughout the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in season 2, the scar moved to the right side, leaving the left side unmarked.

Absolutely brilliant. The visual contrast between the darkness of Dexter’s secret life and the glitz of Miami adds an almost surreal quality. The character development is spot on, slowly bringing up the background so that one can see the development of Dexter’s sociopathic personality and his confusion about human behavior compared to his own.

The creators of this series should also check out Andrew Vachss’s books

Dexter is an actor in his own life; his relationships with coworkers and his personal life are well-depicted in video media. The fact that he is a blood spatter expert is a dark piece of work, but set in the bizarre world of Miami life, it is almost believable.
