When maple syrup farmer Ruth Landry finds her livelihood under attack from greedy competitors who were once her friends, she hatches a plan to get revenge and shake up the industry. Loosely based on the theft of $18 million in maple syrup from a Quebec warehouse in 2011-2012; five people were sentenced to prison.
Because of that, it’s not enough – it leaves you hanging – and it’s way too long
falls apart. I didn’t realize this was “season 1.” I was led to believe it was a complete story told in 6 parts.
I realize I should have peppered this review with corny jokes, but maples are always sad because they’re so corny
The cast and production design are great, but it’s like the original Twin Peaks: once the “big crime” is solved, the story is over. Trying to drag us out with extraneous subplots becomes painful, no matter how much we enjoy spending time with these quirky characters.
